Exploring West Bend One Page At a Time.
This summer, Glacier Hills Credit Union teamed up with the West Bend Community Memorial Library to bring the StoryWalk® Project to our neighbors. Sponsored by Glacier Hills in June and July, StoryWalk allows readers of all ages to enjoy books outdoors. Laminated pages from children's books were installed along walking paths around Patron's Park. As visitors strolled down the path, they were guided page-by-page through delightful tales.
We were thrilled to support this creative approach to literacy and physical activity. Getting kids engaged with books, while encouraging movement and time outdoors, was a win-win for families. We loved seeing kids' smiles as they walked through magical story pages all summer long, and are honored to promote uplifting programs like the StoryWalk® Project in and around West Bend.

In order to ensure equal support for all our members and their families, our staff recently received specialized training to become Demetia Friendly. Through the Aging & Disability Resource Center of Washington County, we learned how to better understand and support individuals, their families and caregivers who are living with dementia (including Alzheimers).
Empowered with new knowledge and skills, we aim to create a welcoming environment where everyone feels heard, respected and cared for. Together, we can make a positive difference in the lives of those affected by this terrible syndrome.

Congratulations, Adam!
For a lot of our members, Adam is a familiar, friendly face. And this month we’re celebrating his 10-year anniversary with us, thanks to The Thresholds Community Work Program. Adam has an incredible dedication to his work and and an even more incredible community spirit. We’re so proud to have him on our team.

Cookies for a Cause
The summer solstice, June 21st, is the day with the most daylight hours. It’s also the day that thousands of people from across the world come together to fight the darkness of Alzheimer’s Disease through fundraising and awareness activities.
Glacier Hills is proud to have participated in this effort with our Purple Cookies Event. All day on June 21st, members and visitors were treated to a purple cookie and information about our commitment to helping fight this insidious disease.

Don’t Fall Prey
When money is tight, it’s easy to be pulled into certain scams. The Debt Relief scam is a perfect example.
Scammers claim they will help you settle your bills and relieve you of the stress of possible collections or negative credit reporting. They will use your own fears and uncertainty against you. If you act on their false promise, they’ll ask you to prepay a fee. This “fee” goes straight into the fraudsters’ pockets, and you’re left with nothing to show for it…except even more financial stress.
How to stay safe: Be wary of anyone who asks you to pay any sort of loan fee with a gift card or some other nontraceable form of payment.
